CORPORATE AMERICA JOB vs SELF-EMPLOYMENT JOB, WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

Figure I touch base on the job force since right now is a difficult time for many. There have been many lay offs and alot of people can't seem to land another job quick enough. So I raise the question, Would you rather work for Corporate America or be Self-Employed?

Now I know many of you would say without hestitation, "Self-Employed" but do you really think it is that easy to start getting the revenue you need to stay self-employed for a long time? Not so many of us can be so lucky. Here are some pros and cons with Corporate America vs Self-Employed before you make any big decisions:

CORPORATE

Pros:

Steady schedule, steady pay check coming in, Benefit Plans for self and family, knowing you are support and leaving the big obstacles to the decision makers, company discount perks.

Cons:

Having to go by a clock, tracking your time, having a business attire, pressured client deadlines, office gossip, explanations for being out of the office, sick or late, seating at a desk or cubicle, no privacy.

Now both these Pros and Cons can go either way depends on the person.

SELF-EMPLOYMENT

Pros:Freedom to do what you want on your own time, privacy, having your own set schedule, wearing what you want, unlimited earning potential based on desire to succeed.

Cons:Not a steady income, no company perks, setting up benefit plans, may lose drive to succeed without being pushed by anyone, distractions by friends and family.

There are countless Pros and Cons for both scenarios and you really have to consider which you rather prefer. Finding a job with flexibility and casual atmosphere might be better then a very strict corporate lifestyle or distractions at home.

MY OPINION

I am thinking it is best to have the corporate job and be self- employed part-time. It is always best to test the waters before you choose to dive in! When you have extra time, consider what your favorite hobbies are. Would you like to create a product and sell it or maybe you like to talk about subjects you like? I have chosen this route.

SELF-EMPLOYMENT JOB OPTIONS

I work full time and write here on hubpages. I enjoy the event industry and do much research on it to provide my audience with insightful articles on ways they can design and execute their events. I love it! Not only am I gaining knowledge and earning extra income here on the subjects I love, I am helping so many people at the same time. Check out my main page. NEED MODIVATION?

If you do not want to blog and are new to a home based business, it is best to hear how others became successful as they might have already made a few mistakes to teach you what not to do and what to do while saving you time on avoiding their common errors. My second suggestion would be to searching the internet for free content that will show a proven system to making a living from home. You probably heard it so many times before but honestly go with what is free and it is up to you to really make yourself successful. Nothing in life that is worth it is easy. It is great motivation to see and hear what others are doing to show nothing is impossible. You should be careful on the Internet and never give your credit card number out or personal details aside from an email address. Sometimes in times of need we can be a little gullible so I do warn to be careful when reviewing over articles of interest.

HAVE A BUSINESS PLAN BUT NOW NEED A WEBSITE TO LAUNCH IT?

Lastly, maybe you do not need the motivation. Do you have a business plan already and just need to launch it on a website? Well first you need to make sure the name is available. There have been many times where I wanted to use a name and it was chosen already so I had to rethink of my plan. For example, Bella M Events is my business name. I bought the .com at GoDaddy.com. I had to go to that site first to check if it was taken already and lucky for me it had not been. I bought the domain for two years to test out my business plan. I now recently renewed it. You can search for www.BellaMevents.com on the web and find me. It is my main business website. The site has easy steps to DIY. You can add photos, text, choose a layout from so many templates of theirs as well as design your own layouts. You can add security on your site, a blog, email box, etc. It is pretty limitless. I also have my favor shop that is www.BellaMevents.theaspenshops.com as I want the websites to coincide with the business name. Please know if you are going to buy your domain name for a website (i.e. business name) be sure to chose the .com as most customers trust .com before a .net, etc. I claimed the expense at the end of the year as a business expense so technically it is free in the long run. Also you can claim advertising and any extra money you put into the business.

BEST OF LUCK!

I really hope this information has helped you decide what is best for your scenario in life. Like I said earlier- "It is always best to test the waters before you choose to dive in!" I wish you much success, happiness and great health in your life. Remember - Life is too short to be otherwise! Thanks for given me your time.

The corporate world is definitely brutal. I touched on this a bit in my hub also but at a different angle. Although, self-employment is not for everyone, it does allow for more flexibility. I like the link referencing your accolades and money earning potential. That's a great tip for someone new to hub like myself. Great article.
