WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TABLE PLACE CARD AND SEATING CARD

Today I wanted to discuss the difference of stationary wording for organizing your guests at your next gala, whether it is a small or large occassion. Many times you will see when browsing the Internet the wording for seating cards are place cards and escort cards but are you familar with what the difference is? I must admit prior to getting into event planning and event design, I did not realize there was a difference amongst them. Aside from explaining the difference to you, I love to give a visual as well. Please take a look at my photos. I hope they give you inspiration towards your next gala.

Seating Card Titles:

  • Place Cards:Informs your guests to know of their assigned seat at that table i.e. Jennifer Robertson name card without table number (see photo)
  • Escort Cards: Informs your guests of their assigned table i.e. Mr.Smith & Guest- Table 10, Jennifer Robertson- Table 14 (see photos). This allows your guest to seat anywhere at the assigned table.

It is very important to organize your event. It allows your guests to feel comfortable with seating with individuals they know and get along with as oppose to seating with friends or family members that may not. Also you can allow your guests to mingle with new individuals such as setting up a friend and pairing him/her next to another single friend at a dinner party. They do not have to know- hehe! It's your occasion and you can do whichever you feel most comfortable with to ensure your night as well as your guests is an enjoyable one.

Now that you have that down, your next step is to think outside the box with presenting the cards. This is one area I love to explore in. To some, they may not care so much about them but for me it really sets the mood for the evening. Check out my photos of beautiful seating card displays as well as check out our additional hub - SEATING CARD DISPLAY FOR YOUR EVENT for more theme ideas.

Please know you do not have to go for alot of money with the small details. It takes a bit of research and browsing for inexpensive decorative vases, tea-lights, and candle holders as well as finding free DIY ideas online. It depends on your theme. For example, if you have a beach theme how about having a sand box with a sand castle. The sand castle can have a flag with your monogram. With some thought, and research you too can have a dramatic yet elegant masterpiece of your own.

I hope this information was useful and the photos inspire you for your next gala!
