WHAT IS A BAR & BAT MITZVAH?

A Bar Mitzvah is thrown for a Jewish boy when he reaches the age of 13. A Bat Mitzvah is thrown for a Jewish girl when she reaches the age of 12. The Jewish law states, boys at age 13 and girls at age 12, officially become responsible for their own actions.

WHAT DOES "MAZEL TOV" MEAN?

When you hear people shouting,"Mazel tov!", it means good luck, congratulations and/or best wishes. It is a positive message to those celebrating a special time in their life.

WHAT ARE SOME TRADITIONS THAT GO ON AT A BAR/ BAT MITZVAH?

One tradition is cutting the traditional bread called Challah!. It is eaten on Shabbat and Jewish holidays. Another tradition you will see at a celebration such as a wedding is,"Hava Neglia" which means- Let us rejoice. It is a time when the song is played and each family member of the family is put in a chair and bounced up and down while everyone dances around them in concentric circles. A few of the stronger men in the crowd hold the chairs so no-one falls. I have been to a few weddings and it had always been such a fun time to witness as well as join in. All the guests would hold hands and form a circle around them.

CAN YOU PROVIDE THEMES TO DO?

Absolutely, check out the amazing photos I gathered. The Israel country colors are blue and white however you do not have to stick to using those colors. I think you should bring out the hobbies the child likes, such as, music, sports, zoo, fairy princess, the beach or everything they favor. Make it be more about them then being so reserved. It does depend on the family and how strict they are to decide on what they want to do so I have also added a extravagant blue and white setting as well to keep in mind. I always try to find ideas that are really outside the box. I think these photos have captured what I was looking for and I hope has won you over as well to consider such amazing ideas for your child's special day.
